Like most dispensaries, the outer room here is like a clean, spartan
dentist’s waiting room, with its first-timer applications and
clipboards & pens.
But inside, awaits a warm-feeling, store-like atmosphere with multiple
friendly counter-people on hand to assist, and attractive displays to entice and inform, the customer.
Things were hopping on a friday evening as I handed in my apps for the check-in, and was subsequently
let in by a cheerful employee to join several other customers
already being served.
As a 1st-timer, with a $25 donation, I got a free glass pipe (and NOT a cheap little one, but a full 3-inch, hand-blown hole-in-side carberator-pipe, like ones I’ve spent $15-20 bucks for!). This got Vapors some immediate brownie-points with me, for sure.
Those pipes are normally just $5 here. Sweet.
Even on Venice Beach I see them for $7-$8–The lowest
I have seen myself.
I also received a free pack of wrapping papers and 1 free $5 edible (I chose a slice of neatly cellophane-wrapped banana bread).
I had previously read a menu on a website that included the rare,
“Maui Wowee”, but alas, the counter-girl smiled, no, we just have these,
and motioned towards a menu of around 15 or more strains.
The cap was $45/8th. I got an 8th of TrainWreck, thinking
it was going to be $45, but the sweet girl pushed the $5 away and gave me change, saying, the TrainWreck was only $35. I must have mis-read the sign.
Nice.
$35 TrainWreck. Hmm. Yeah, I can live with that.
Very solid quality too, it turned out.
I will be going back, especially for more of those glass pipes, which are a bargain at $5 a piece. But the edible was tasty, and I figure 2 of them would give you a real send-off on an empty stomach. The empty- stomach factor really makes a difference for edibles, I have found.
As it was, the one I ate about 5 hours after dinner gave me a pleasant, pain-relieving toasty buzz.
Next time, maybe I’ll have 2–INSTEAD of dinner.
In a corner of Vapors (which does not have a “vapor-lounge”
on premises, by the way), is a display area for small seedling cannabis plants of various strains under lights. They apparently sell these, If I understand correctly, since prescriptions allow patient cultivation, as I understand it. But I didn’t ask. Maybe someday.
But for now, I was a happy customer.
I just went home and had a sweet, lovely evening with
no pain or discomfort at all.
Vapors works.
Well-worth checking out.
I drive 45 minutes from Ventura for the quality you get here. A $40 cap for awesome meds. Great selection too.
Best collective around by far.
As of early 2011, VAPOR’S was going stronger than ever, featuring a full menu-board (maybe 30 or so strains) of varies fine medicines. The cap is $45 for Stupidicous OG and other super-potent indicas and hybrids. The sativas are mostly under $40 per 6th at this time, but not because the qulity isn’t good–It dang well IS!!
But more & more prescriptioned folks are getting into the cultivation game, and selling a bit of “overgrow” thru their co-ops to cover the power costs.
There’s a whole slew of *patient-grown* bud at Vapor’s, all selling for $30 or less per 8th.
The $30 Trainwreck and SuperSilver Haze are as potent as ever, and would have been commonly found for $40 or MORE per 8th as little as 6 months ago.
Clones are available at various times throughout the year, but not at all times–Check store for what’s on hand.
The staff is ever-friendly, and the manager/owner is a very likeable bud “guru” who is a joy to ask for advice (but he is a busy guy, admittedly). If he ever has growing “class”
at any time, I’d be 1st in line to sign up for some wisdom.
I haven’t been to any other dispensaries in a while, but I would imagine that the prices are steadily dropping, and the variety increasing, in shops all over the valley. They’d better be–After all, they’ve got to compete with Vapor’s.
